Bijnor: Fed up of being sexually harassed by a neighbour, a woman, along with her husband, allegedly bludgeoned him to death. The motive of the murder was established only after the couple was arrested on Monday, police said.The woman claimed that the deceased, in an inebriated condition, would barge into her house and sexually harass her. Unable to stop him from harassing her, the woman and her husband decided to exact revenge on him by killing him.The murder was committed on June 16 and a case was registered in this connection against Chandrawati, 32, and her husband, Pempal Singh, 33, under IPC section 302 (murder) based on a complaint lodged by the deceased’s brother, Baburam.The deceased was identified as Omkar alias Tunda (33) of Hazipur Tarara in Amroha district. He was married and a drunkard. The body of the deceased was found near the village, Baburam alleged that his brother Omkar was bludgeoned by his neighbours Prempal and his wife, Chandrawati.Amroha superintendent of police SK Singh formed a police team to crack the case. On Monday, police arrested the couple and grilled them. During the interrogation, the couple broke down and confessed.Addressing a press conference, the SP said the couple had confessed their crime. They told police that Omkar used to barge into their house drunk and sexually harass Chandrawati. That is why the couple claimed they had hatched a conspiracy to eliminate him.The couple had in the past complained against Omkar to the panchayat and his family. However, he did not mend his ways. A couple of times, Prempal had fought with Omkar for misbehaving with his wife but to no avail.“On June 16, also, Omkar entered the house of the accused. The couple thrashed him and then strangled him to death,” SP Singh added.According to police, both the culprits were sent to jail in judicial custody on Monday.
