Muzaffarnagar: The future of nearly 400 children, who have taken admission into the newly-constructed government intercollege in Purkazi area of Muzaffarnagar, is hanging in balance. This year, the education department appointed two teachers who began issuing admission forms in the month of May. While the admissions have been confirmed, only two teachers have been appointed to run the institution and the classrooms still do not have basic furniture. I am in touch with higher officials in the department and things will be sorted out at the earliest,” he said. All other facilities, including basic furniture, will be made available latest by September.

Muzaffarnagar: The future of nearly 400 children, who have taken admission into the newly-constructed government intercollege in Purkazi area of Muzaffarnagar, is hanging in balance. While the admissions have been confirmed, only two teachers have been appointed to run the institution and the classrooms still do not have basic furniture. The new academic session was to commence from this month, but officials say it is quite likely that classes will start only from September, if not later than that. After registering multiple complaints with the concerned officials, the local residents are now planning to hold a protest at the collectorate on Monday. The chairman of Purkazi nagar panchayat, Zaheer Faruki, said, “The structure was built three years ago. This year, the education department appointed two teachers who began issuing admission forms in the month of May. Maybe they hadn’t anticipated as many as 400 applications. The future of so many children is at stake, but the authorities are doing nothing to resolve the problem.”Local resident Shiv Kumar, whose daughter Divya has taken admission into the school, said, “The education department should have been more careful. If they didn’t have the required infrastructure, they shouldn’t have invited applications for admission. I am worried for my daughter and all other children who will not be able to attend school for the next few months.”Meanwhile, the newly-appointed district inspector of schools (DIOPS), PK Mishra, visited the intercollege earlier this week and assured local residents that all the required facilities will be provided as soon as possible. “We are trying to appoint more teachers. All other facilities, including basic furniture, will be made available latest by September. I am in touch with higher officials in the department and things will be sorted out at the earliest,” he said.
