Bijnor to be made polythene-free by August 15

BIJNOR: The district administration has decided to make Bijnor polythene-free by August 15 this year. “Our objective is to make the district polythene-free by August 15. We have chalked out a detailed plan for this purpose,” the DM said. These teams will conduct raids at shops and will impose fines on violators. Taking a serious note of the situation, the district magistrate has said that stern action will be taken against violators.Addressing a meeting of traders at the collectorate, district magistrate Atal Rai said that the administration will launch a campaign to prevent the use of polythene here.

BIJNOR: The district administration has decided to make Bijnor polythene-free by August 15 this year. For this, the administration will hold a series of drives to discourage shopkeepers and traders from using polythene bags and will also run awareness campaigns for the general public.The use of polythene bags is so rampantly in the district that these bags make up for 45% of the total waste generated by Bijnor. Taking a serious note of the situation, the district magistrate has said that stern action will be taken against violators.Addressing a meeting of traders at the collectorate, district magistrate Atal Rai said that the administration will launch a campaign to prevent the use of polythene here. The campaign will be run as a movement instilling a sense of responsibility among residents.The district magistrate also asked the traders to join hands with the administration and stop the use of plastic and polythene bags which are harmful for the environment.The DM has constituted several teams led by SDMs and other officials to take care of the implementation. These teams will conduct raids at shops and will impose fines on violators. “Our objective is to make the district polythene-free by August 15.
