Muzaffarnagar: Two people, a 45-year-old man and his 12-year-old son, were killed after the motor-rickshaw (known locally as ‘jugaad’) they were travelling in was hit by a speeding truck. Two other members of the family, including the man’s wife, also received severe injuries in the accident . The incident occurred in Khatauli area of Muzaffarnagar late on Thursday night. The father-son duo succumbed in the wee hours of Friday.A case has been registered in the matter and the driver of the truck is on the run. Alauddin Ahmed, 45, a resident of Kithoda village of Meerapur police station area, was returning home with his family after attending a function in Khatauli when a truck rammed into their vehicle at Janstha area. Ahmed and his minor son Anas were badly injured and were taken to the district hospital. From there, they were referred to Meerut for higher treatment, where both died. According to villagers, Ahmed, who used to work at a brick kiln, was the only earning member in his family.After the accident, police and emergency services rushed to the spot and sent all the injured to the hospital. The driver managed to escape but the truck was sized by Jansath police. Premveer Rana, station house officer of Jansath police station said, “A case has been registered and efforts to arrest the driver are on.”
