Muzaffarnagar: During a late-night confrontation in Shamli, two criminals were injured and two others fled from the spot after police spotted the criminals attempting robbery on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.Police recovered Rs 25 Lakh worth gold and silver jewelries and seized illegal arms from them. Search is on to arrest the other two, who are still at large. The arrested accused have several cases of loot, murder and dacoity in Haryana, Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh, police said.The incident took place at midnight in Kotwali area of Shamli District when the culprits were attempting to commit the crime.After receiving information, the police rushed to spot and tried to catch the suspects but faced stiff resistance from them. During the clash, gun shots from both the end began, and in the exchange two culprits and a police man received bullet injuries. The injured were then admitted to a local hospital.According to superintendent of police Dinesh Kumar, “The arrested, identified as Anwar and Tasleem, both residents of Kirana, have a long history of criminal acts on their name in various states, including Uttar Pradesh. Rs 25 lakh worth gold, silver jewelries were recovered and large number of illegal weapons also seized.”According to police sources, the injured accused and police constable Sachin Kumar are out of dangers, and efforts are being made to nab those who fled. Their crime history is being screened by the police.
