Video shows UP med college CEO seeking bribe of Rs 15 lakh to admit student

Meerut: The CEO of Meerut’s Mulayam Singh Yadav Medical College and Hospital was removed after a video of the official demanding Rs 15 lakh to admit a low-ranking NEET aspirant surfaced on Wednesday. The clip shows CEO Dr Himani Agarwal agreeing to admit the student, who scored only 130 in the entrance examination. Another Rs 5.5 lakh will have to be paid for the final year,” Dr Agarwal can be seen saying. Following reports about anomalies related to admission process, we have dismissed Dr Agarwal from the post,” said Dr Om Prakash, secretary, Mulayam Singh Yadav Medical College and Hospital. The medical college is owned by BJP MLC Sarojini Agarwal (a former SP MLC).The sting operation was conducted by a national news channel recently.

The medical college is owned by BJP MLC Sarojini Agarwal (a former SP MLC).The sting operation was conducted by a national news channel recently. Agarwal, in the video, also says that Rs 15 lakh is only the “donation” amount. “A total of Rs 16 lakh, including fee and other charges, will be charged for the first year. In the second, third and fourth year, Rs 11 lakh each will be charged. Another Rs 5.5 lakh will have to be paid for the final year,” Dr Agarwal can be seen saying. She further adds that there are others who will share the cash.“All admissions in the Mulayam Singh Yadav Medical College and Hospital are transparent and according to the Medical Council of India norms. Following reports about anomalies related to admission process, we have dismissed Dr Agarwal from the post,” said Dr Om Prakash, secretary, Mulayam Singh Yadav Medical College and Hospital.
