Good Samaritan brings home 3 runaway girls

Meerut: Bored of the routine at their government boarding school, three students of Kasturba Gandhi Girls School sneaked out of the premises in Shamli's Adarshmandi area and took a train to Delhi. Once out of school, the trio boarded a train to Delhi, where they intended to meet their aunt. The commuter who happened to be heading for Shamli called the girl’s father and told him that he would bring the girls back home, Singh said.Meanwhile, when school authorities found that the girls were missing, they informed police.

Meerut: Bored of the routine at their government boarding school, three students of Kasturba Gandhi Girls School sneaked out of the premises in Shamli's Adarshmandi area and took a train to Delhi. According to police, all the three girls are minors and were admitted to the school just a week ago. However a chance meeting with a Good Samaritan at New Delhi railway station resulted in their returning home safe.The three girls managed to sneak out of the premises late afternoon on Saturday without guards at the school gate noticing and by dodging CCTVs that monitor activities of students all day long. Once out of school, the trio boarded a train to Delhi, where they intended to meet their aunt."The girls sneaked out without the warden or the guards noticing. They went to Shamli railway station to board a train to Delhi,” said sub-inspector Ravindra Singh at Adarshmandi police station.Upon reaching Delhi in the early hours of Sunday, the girls were overwhelmed by the big city and its crowd. They were frightened. After losing their way, they were forced to seek help from a commuter at New Delhi station to inquire about the way to their aunt’s place.One of the girls blurted out that they had run away from school and gave her father’s phone number. The commuter who happened to be heading for Shamli called the girl’s father and told him that he would bring the girls back home, Singh said.Meanwhile, when school authorities found that the girls were missing, they informed police. An FIR for kidnapping was lodged at Adarshmandi police station on Saturday evening.A search operation was launched to trace the girls.The local police administration heaved a sigh of relief after the three girls arrived safely in Shamli on Sunday afternoon. The girls were later handed over to their parents after medical examination.
