Crackdown on illegal mining: Three trucks carrying sand, gravel seized in Bijnor

Later, drivers of these trucks arrived there and produced papers suggesting that the trucks were from Yamunanagar in Haryana,” the mining officer said.He added, “During verification and after interacting with authorities in Haryana, we found that out of the seven trucks, three were carrying sand and gravel illegally.

The driver did not have the required papers,” Singh said.Soon after, the team spotted six other trucks loaded with sand and gravel parked along the roadside. “We took the vehicles into custody and transported them to Bijnor police station. Later, drivers of these trucks arrived there and produced papers suggesting that the trucks were from Yamunanagar in Haryana,” the mining officer said.He added, “During verification and after interacting with authorities in Haryana, we found that out of the seven trucks, three were carrying sand and gravel illegally. While all trucks were overloaded, we let the ones with papers go this time with just a warning.”Sources said that several such trucks pass through the district every day and that Friday’s seizure was carried out after receiving a tip-off.
