MDM authority for awareness on malnutrition

Meerut: With the government declaring September as the National Nutrition Month, the Uttar Pradesh schools have been directed by the midday meal authority to spread awareness about malnutrition. In a series of programmes to be hosted in schools, the awareness initiative will be carried out.The National Nutrition Month is being celebrated across the country in September to mark the fight against malnutrition. “Such schools should be identified where hand-washing facility is not available as it leads to various diseases related to health. At least 10% of the identified schools should get hand-washing facility in September,” read Samad’s order. The Union ministry of women and child development will organise various programmes to spread awareness on issues related to malnutrition like stunting, under-nutrition, anaemia and low birth weight in children.“It is necessary to ensure that children, women and girls are made aware about fight against malnutrition,” read the order issued by Abdul Samad, director of midday meal authority.Instructions have also been given to conduct meetings in this relation at schools every week in the month of September.
