Meerut: An Uttar Pradesh roadways bus lost control and hit former councillor’s 19-year-old daughter while she was going to college on Tuesday morning.Neetu, who is critical and recuperating in a private hospital here, was waiting for an auto outside Venus Garden when the accident took place.“The accident took place on Tuesday morning when Neetu (19) was waiting for an auto to go to college outside Venus Garden. A UP roadways bus lost control and hit her, leaving her severely injured. She was rushed to a private hospital where she continues to be critical,” said Kailash Chand, senior sub-inspector, Transport Nagar police station.Neetu is a resident of Mohkampur and daughter of former councilor Jaipal Singh. She is a student of B.Sc first year from Shaheed Mangal Pandey Degree College in Delhi. While the driver fled the spot, the bus was seized by the police later.“We have seized the bus and are investigating the matter. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code against the driver, and efforts are on to arrest him,” said Chand.
