Muzaffarnagar: A 21-year-old Dalit youth was shot dead on Monday afternoon by some unidentified persons in Purkazi area of Muzaffarnagar, putting the district police in a tight spot as it is already grappling with a similar killing of a Dalit youth which took place in nearby Budhana area four days ago.Incidentally, in both the murders , the families of the victims are clueless about the perpetrators. When contacted, kin of the deceased said that they had no enmity with anyone, and had no idea why their children were killed.On Monday afternoon, Rajat Kumar, a college student, was shot in the chest by unidentified men while he was going to his Mandla village in Purkazi area of Muzaffarnagar.Rajat was taken to a local hospital, but died during the treatment. Soon, police teams rushed the village and launched a combing operation, but to no avail.“A case under section 302 of IPC (murder) has been registered. We are trying to find the killer,” said Vijay Singh, station house officer (SHO) of Purkazi. The family of Rajat was in state of shock.This comes four days after the body of another Dalit youth, bearing multiple wounds, was found in Budhana area, about 50km from Purkazi where Rajat was murdered.20 years old Kapil Jatav used to sell fruit to support his family. He went missing on Friday afternoon. His blood-soaked was spotted on Saturday morning in a field behind a college.A case was registered against unidentified men, said Prabhakar Kenthura, the SHO of Budhana police station.Kapil’s family members staged a protest on Saturday and demanded immediate arrest of the perpetrators. They were also unsure about the motive and people behind the murder.
