Now, swipe cards to pay for traffic violations in Muzaffarnagar

Offenders will no longer need to have cash on them to pay fines, they can simply swipe their debit or credit card. Muzaffarnagar: SSP Muzaffarnagar, Sudhir Kumar, distributed 20 e-challan machines to traffic police on Sunday. Every day, all data from the machines will be transferred to traffic police's computers and will be stored there forever. Sourabh Saini from the Muzaffarnagar branch of the bank said, “The bank is providing e-challan facilities across the state. Now, one doesn’t need cash to pay fine.

Muzaffarnagar: SSP Muzaffarnagar, Sudhir Kumar, distributed 20 e-challan machines to traffic police on Sunday. Offenders will no longer need to have cash on them to pay fines, they can simply swipe their debit or credit card. These machines will also keep a track of the defaulters’ details and if they happen to be breaking the law for the third time, their license will be cancelled.“This is the first time that such a thing is being implemented in the district. Now, one doesn’t need cash to pay fine. Besides, after the third challan, their driving license will be cancelled. The machines will be linked to ZIP NET (Zonal integrated police network) soon, to detect if a registration number is fake or not,” said the SSP.“The machines will make collection of fines on the spot easier, as the offender will no longer need to visit a traffic police’s office for the purpose,” added Kumar.The scheme has been started in collaboration with HDFC Bank. Sourabh Saini from the Muzaffarnagar branch of the bank said, “The bank is providing e-challan facilities across the state. All challan fines will be transferred to the account of police at the HDFC Bank.”According to a police source, all 20 machines have been connected to NIC (National Information Center). Every day, all data from the machines will be transferred to traffic police's computers and will be stored there forever.
