Muzaffarnagar: Four police constables who were part of the security detail of UP information commissioner Hafiz Usmaan were injured after their van rammed into his car on Thursday. Their vehicle was following the commissioner’s car. The latter escaped unhurt.The accident took place when the driver of Usmaan’s car applied the brakes suddenly to avoid running over a stray dog on the road. The information commissioner was on way to Muzaffarnagar from Saharanpur to attend a meeting with officials. The accident occurred near Rohana on the Muzaffarnagar-Saharanpur border.Two of the injured constables were admitted to the nearest hospital at Deoband in Saharanpur district.Speaking with TOI, Usmaan said. “The constables have been taken to a hospital in Deoband, I hope they will be fine.”After the accident, the commissioner reached Muzaffarnagar and conducted a meeting with the district magistrate, senior superintendent of police and other officials.Addressing a press conference here, the information commissioner said, “I am here to discuss how information can be provided more easily to information-seekers. Training camps are being held for government clerks in every district for the purpose. On Friday, a camp will be organized in Muzaffarnagar and later in Shamli district.”An RTI activist, Sumeet Malik, met Usmaan and complained that many departments were not sharing any information he had sought. Usmaan assured him that he will be provided full details relating to his queries.
