Dengue rears head in Meerut, four cases confirmed

Moreover, larvae sprays have also been done here,” said Rachna Tandon, Meerut district epidemiologist.Apart from the patients belonging to Meerut, three other patients who tested positive for dengue are from Baghpat, Bulandshahr and Saharanpur.“We are conducting regular anti-larvae sprays in urban as well as rural areas. These cases are from Sardhana, Tarapuri, Incholi village and Medical College campus. Camps have been set up in these places and blood slides taken.

Severe joint and muscle pain, fatigue, nausea, vomiting and skin rash are also symptoms of the disease, which appear two to five days after the onset of fever.Also, the district malaria authorities are conducting anti-larvae sprays and larvae checks in different areas of the district. Instructions are being given to ensure that water is not stored anywhere in the open or it will lead to mosquito breeding — thereby making the area prone to dengue,” said Yogesh Saraswat, Meerut district malaria officer.The malaria department has issued at least 150 notices to establishments where larvae have been found.The health department is also conducting awareness drives about the vector-borne diseases so that people exercise caution.
