Muzaffarnagar: At least 19 people got injured after a bus carrying Haridwar-bound 55 devotees from Delhi turned turtle on NH-58 in Muzaffarnagar’s Purkazi on Sunday early morning. The injured were rushed to the district hospital, where they were given preliminary treatment.According to a police source, the bus from Govindpuri in Delhi was en route to Haridwar. The bus driver reportedly lost control and turned turtle and 19 devotees sustained injuries. After being informed, police and emergency services rushed to take action. “The incident took place at 5am on Sunday morning. It seems that the driver slept and lost control. All injured passengers were sent to district hospital and investigation is on into the matter,” said superintendent of police (city) Omveer Singh.“Eight women and two kids also got injured in the accident,” said Pankaj Agarwal, chief medical superintendent of the district hospital. “All the injured are out of danger,” he added. A devotee, Ajay Pandey who also got injured, said, “I don’t know whether the driver consumed liquor or fell asleep.”On Friday, five passengers were killed and 35 others sustained injuries after a private bus turned turtle on Joya- Sambhal road in Amroha.
