MEERUT: With as many as 48 districts of Uttar Pradesh failing to upload student enrollment details on the education portal regularly as instructed by the state education department, the authorities have now sought for an explanation from these districts. State authorities say that a delay in uploading the data makes it difficult to analyse the statistics and hence delays required corrective measures.“It should be noted that instructions were given to all the basic shiksha adhikaris to upload details about student enrollment on a daily basis. However, despite instructions, as many as 48 districts have failed to upload details on daily basis. This is a sign of indifference towards your own department,” read the order issued by Sarvendra Vikram Bahadur Singh, UP education director (basic). This comes at a time when the ‘School Chalo Abhiyan’ – an initiative to enroll as many children as possible in the primary and upper primary schools – received a lukewarm response in the state, as the enrollment ratio dropped in 50 districts compared to last year. The state education department is keeping a close track of the enrollment of students so as to increase the count.“The 48 districts in question have not reflected any change in the student enrollment since different set of dates. In this backdrop, it is expected from all of you to upload student enrollment details on a daily basis, which if not done will be considered as neglecting the orders. Also, all the basic shiksha adhikaris of the districts - which have delayed providing the data – should give a written clarification for the delay by September 26,” read Singh’s order.
