Traders’ leader fires at tent house owner over payment dispute

According to sources, Sadar trade association president Sunil Dua, 47, shot at one Sandeep Kumar, 40, over a monetary dispute. Medical examination of Sandeep Kumar confirmed that he was shot at and the bullet pierced through his palm. There was a lot of confusion after he shot a person, and this led to delay in filing the FIR. There are allegations that Dua had visited Sadar police station on Thursday night after the incident and left without getting arrested. Sandeep, however, is out of danger as the bullet had pierced through his palm.Accused Dua runs a garment shop in Sadar Bazar Market and Kumar runs a tent business.

MEERUT: Days after a BJP corporator thrashed a policeman inside the former's restaurant, now a trade association leader shot at a person following a dispute over payment on Diwali at Sadar Bazar Market in Meerut . According to sources, Sadar trade association president Sunil Dua, 47, shot at one Sandeep Kumar, 40, over a monetary dispute. Sandeep, however, is out of danger as the bullet had pierced through his palm.Accused Dua runs a garment shop in Sadar Bazar Market and Kumar runs a tent business. The incident took place on Thursday evening when the market was abuzz with Diwali shoppers.“We have filed an FIR under IPC sec 307 (attempt to murder) against Dua. We are yet to arrest him. Medical examination of Sandeep Kumar confirmed that he was shot at and the bullet pierced through his palm. We have also recovered the spent cartridge of the licenced pistol which was used to fire the bullet,” said ASP Satpal Antil.According to Kumar, “I had arranged for six chairs to Dua on rent, at the rate of Rs 50 per chair. But when we approached Dua to get the payment, he said the rate should be Rs 30 per chair, and this led to an argument. Dua then left in a huff but soon returned with a pistol and shot at my hand. After the incident, police were reluctant to file an FIR and were putting pressure on me to arrive at a compromise.”Dua could not be reached for his comments, but sources claimed that he was affiliated to BJP because of which he was being given special treatment at the police station. A senior source in BJP, however, refuted the claim and said Dua does not any post in BJP.According to SP, city, Ranvijay Singh, "A delegation of traders met me seeking immediate arrest of Dua. There are allegations that Dua had visited Sadar police station on Thursday night after the incident and left without getting arrested. There was a lot of confusion after he shot a person, and this led to delay in filing the FIR. Dua will be arrested soon."
