Muzaffarnagar: Four people, including three brothers, died on the spot when a truck hit their tractor while they were returning to their village on Meerut-Karnal Highway on Friday morning. Police have seized the truck.According to the source, three brothers — Meraj, Sarfarz, and Israr — and their cousin Shahrukh, all aged between 25-30 years, all residents of Chatelain village in Titawi area, were returning home after selling ‘puali’ (paddy stalks) when an overloaded speeding truck rammed their tractor-trolley. While three of them died on the spot, Sharukh breathed his last after reaching hospital.A family member of deceased, Khalil Ahmed, told TOI, “All the deceased belonged to a poor family and used to sell puali after collecting it from paddy fields. We request government to help the bereaved families financially.”Desh Raj Singh, station house officer of Fugana police station, said, “A case has been registered and a truck was seized. Further investigation is on in the matter.”According to sources, shocked residents of Chatelain village gathered outside the postmortem house after learning about the accident . “No food was cooked in any house at the village and most of the residents are here,” said Javed Ahmed, a villager.Two weeks ago, three men had died after a speeding truck rammed their motorcycle in Titavi area. The trio was returning home from Shamli district when the accident occurred.
