Meerut: Three criminals wanted for at least 50 cases of theft, robbery and other crimes in the city were arrested in Suroorpur on Monday. A sum of Rs 15,000, a motorcycle, a countrymade weapon and cartridges were seized from their possession. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and sent to jail.Ritesh Kumar, station house officer, Suroorpur police station, said, “During regular checking in Suroorpur, we hailed a motorcycle to stop. However, the men on the motorcycle turned from the spot and tried to flee. Police personnel blocked the way of the vehicle and arrested the accused. During interrogation it was found that they were involved in a robbery that took place on the intervening night of October 31 and November 1 in Nanglamal area.”The three, identified as Nafees, Samedeen and Gulbahaar, are all residents of Meerut. They have been booked under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and sent to jail. “We have also seized from them Rs 15,000 cash, two knives, one countrymade weapon and jewellery, which they had stolen a fortnight ago,” said Kumar.
