Meerut: In an incident which raises questions on the security of the UP’s government schools, miscreants decamped with iron pipes and brass taps worth Rs 50,000 from Rajkiya Inter College of Baghpat’s Mubarakpura in the early hours of Monday. There was no patrolling at the school earlier as it is located in a jungle area. Police has filed a case and are investigating the matter.“The miscreants barged into the school late on Sunday night by breaking the lock on the main gate. It should be noted that Khekda area, where the school is located, has seen various thefts in the last one week.“We have inspected the spot.

They even broke the locks of the classrooms and the toilets. They have mostly stolen all the iron pipe fittings and the brass taps, worth nearly Rs 50,000, which were installed inside the toilets. We have reported the matter to the police,” said Anita Raghav, principal, Rajkiya Inter College.The police inspected the spot for all the items which went missing from the school. It should be noted that Khekda area, where the school is located, has seen various thefts in the last one week.“We have inspected the spot. Police is patrolling the area to prevent any more such incidents. There was no patrolling at the school earlier as it is located in a jungle area. We have booked unknown persons under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and are making all efforts to arrest the accused,” said RP Singh, circle officer, Khekda.
