Bijnor: A 22-year-old man battered his nine-day-old daughter to ground under the influence of alcohol on Tuesday evening. Neighbours say that the man doubted his wife’s integrity and was unsure whether the girl was his daughter. While the girl died and was buried on Tuesday, it was only after the neighbour suspected foul play police was informed about the incident. The body of the girl was exhumed for postmortem.According to police, the incident took place at Ravali village under Mandawar police station area, on Tuesday and police came into action only after villagers contacted them. Actually, the accused, Ram Nivas was in inebriated condition when he allegedly battered her daughter.On being asked about the matter, Mandawar station house officer, Anshumali, said, “Villagers told the police that the accused thought that the baby was not her daughter.”SDM Bijnor, Brajesh Singh, said, “Body of the girl child was exhumed on Wednesday and post mortem will be conducted to know the real cause of the demise of the baby. If her father is found guilty, a strict action will be taken against the accused. We are waiting for post mortem report.”
