Bhim Army members protest against removal of Ambedkar statue

Bijnor: Heavy police force has been deployed on Bijnor-Badaun highway as Bhim Army members protested against the removal of Ambedkar’s statue from Amheda crossing due to ongoing road renovation. They started raising slogan against contractor.Sagar said: “PWD officials want to shift Ambedkar statue to Chandpur road. The statue is being relocated due to renovation of the road by PWD officials.When road contractor and labourers reached there to remove the statute, a large number of people led by district coordinator of Bhim Army, Lokesh Sagar gathered there and staged a protest. But some persons are protesting against the shifting process of the statue. We want to shift it to another place.

The statue is being relocated due to renovation of the road by PWD officials.When road contractor and labourers reached there to remove the statute, a large number of people led by district coordinator of Bhim Army, Lokesh Sagar gathered there and staged a protest. They started raising slogan against contractor.Sagar said: “PWD officials want to shift Ambedkar statue to Chandpur road. We will not let it happen. We stopped the construction work on Tuesday. If the statue is removed forcibly, we will stage a huge protest.”Soon, heavy police force was deployed at the venue to maintain law and order.According to executive engineer of PWD, Sunil Sagar, “The statute is in the middle of road which is now being widened. The construction work is going on. We want to shift it to another place. But some persons are protesting against the shifting process of the statue. We are trying to talk to the protesters.”
