Bulandshahr violence: Natt sent to 12-hr police remand

Meerut: A court here has sent Prashant Natt, the prime accused who allegedly shot inspector Subodh Kumar Singh in Bulandshahr during the December 3 violence, to 12-hour police remand on Wednesday. We have strong evidence and corroborative statements to back our claims that Natt had shot inspector Subodh Kumar Singh after snatching the latter's service pistol. The Uttar Pradesh police had sought Natt's remand for 48 hours to recover the pistol with which inspector Singh was shot dead.Earlier, Bulandshahr senior superintendent of police (SSP) Prabhakar Chaudhary had said, "The name of Prashant Natt had come up during investigation. The police officer was attacked with an axe by Kalua, who is also in police custody now, before Singh was shot dead. We are yet to recover the pistol.”On December 3, two persons were killed, including Siyana police station SHO Subodh Singh, after a mob went on the rampage over alleged cow slaughter in Mahav village, close to Chingrawati police post. The police post was torched, so were several vehicles, including the police jeep carrying the SHO.According to police sources, 33 suspects have been arrested in the case while the main instigator, Bajrang Dal leader Yogesh Raj, was arrested on January 3. BJP youth wing leader Shikhar Agarwal continue to evade arrest.
