Meerut: Day after the BJP-led NDA government passed a resolution in Lok Sabha for 10% job reservation for upper caste poor, a Deobandi 'alim' on Wednesday sought quota for Muslims citing recommendations of Sachar Committee Report and Ranganath Misra Report.All India Jamiat Rajput president Maulana Kari Mustafa said, “Sachar Committee and Ranganath Misra Report have proved that the financial condition of Muslims is worse than Dalits' in this country. So Muslims deserve quota more than anyone else. But, in a pre-planned conspiracy, this government has entangled Muslims in issues like Triple Talaq and is stopping their growth prospects in the process. On the other hand, communities that don’t need reservations are being given quota.”He added, “PM Narendra Modi had won election on the plank of ‘Sabka Saath Sabka Vikas.’ To keep his promise, he should give the benefit of quota to Muslims.”Meanwhile, leader of the Barelvi sect of Sunni Muslims and the founder of Ittehad-e-Millat Council, Tauqeer Raza Khan, said, “We don’t have much expectation from this government and so we just demand the freedom to offer Namaz. We seek reservation to a peaceful livelihood and the government should ensure that Muslims are not lynched in this country.”
