Massive drive launched against traffic offenders, encroachers in Meerut

The drive was conducted by forming four traffic police teams.SP Traffic Sanjeev Bajpai, said, “Four teams of traffic police, including four TRAMO (Traffic Mobile) -- traffic police on wheels, and two traffic angels – women cops on two-wheelers, were designated for the massive drive. Meerut: In a massive drive against those who flout traffic norms, Meerut traffic police on Wednesday has issued 100 challans for wrongly parked vehicles and 35 challans to shopkeepers for encroaching the road. “During the drive, encroachment was removed from the Zeromile-Abulane and Begum bridge-Zero Mile-Dayanand Hospital-Western Kutchery road stretches. “Also, 100 challans were issued against those who parked their vehicles wrongly,” said Bajpai, Traffic police authorities plan to conduct such drives from time to time to have a better system in place in the backdrop of the traffic norms. The police also removed encroachment from various stretches of the city.

The teams were sent to the major crossings of the city to remove encroachments and to issue challans against those who flout traffic norms.”The major crossings covered include Begum Bridge, Zero Mile crossing, Abulane, Western Kutchery road and others. “During the drive, encroachment was removed from the Zeromile-Abulane and Begum bridge-Zero Mile-Dayanand Hospital-Western Kutchery road stretches. To make the area encroachment free, 35 challans to shopkeepers were issued for encroaching the road and boards, trolleys and other items kept on the road were seized,” said Bajpai.Also, announcements to remove encroachment and to follow traffic norms were done. “Also, 100 challans were issued against those who parked their vehicles wrongly,” said Bajpai, Traffic police authorities plan to conduct such drives from time to time to have a better system in place in the backdrop of the traffic norms.
