Job racket busted: 4 arrested, including a college principal

Bijnor: A job racket was busted by Meerut unit of the special task force (STF) on Saturday in which four members, including a principal of Muzaffarnagar’s college, were arrested. The arrested persons were identified as Yogesh Kumar, the kingpin of the gang who is posted as principal at a Muzaffarnagar college. They were in a car when our team arrested them. As per the information, our team reached Meerut’s Sadar Bazaar area close to Hanuman temple where the gang members had gathered. The gang members took Rs 5 lakh from each aspirant.”Singh added, “There was an exam for a tubewell operator post on Saturday in Meerut.

The members of the gang used to lure aspirants by promising them finished optical mark recognition (OMR) sheets. The members were arrested after Jal Nigam’s operator recruitment examination which was conducted under the supervision of Uttar Pradesh Subordinate Services Selection Commission (UPSSC) on Saturday in Meerut. The arrested persons are residents of Bijnor district.STF claimed that they recovered five mobile phones, 16 admit cards of different aspirants, 10 OMR sheets’ carbon copies, a PAN card, a driving licence and identity cards belonging to UP’s irrigation department from their possession, and also seized a car.According to SSP (STF) Abhishek Singh, “We were informed that some persons formed a gang to lure the gullible aspirants appearing in different competitive exams. They had lured some aspirants by promising them completed OMR sheets. The gang members took Rs 5 lakh from each aspirant.”Singh added, “There was an exam for a tubewell operator post on Saturday in Meerut. I formed a team led by Brajesh Singh (STF’s Meerut unit’s DSP) to track down the racket. As per the information, our team reached Meerut’s Sadar Bazaar area close to Hanuman temple where the gang members had gathered. They were in a car when our team arrested them. All the accused are residents of Bijnor district. The arrested persons were identified as Yogesh Kumar, the kingpin of the gang who is posted as principal at a Muzaffarnagar college. The others are identified as Ajay Singh of civil lines of Bijnor city, Saurabh Chaudhary of Bukhara mohalla of Bijnor and Anand Kumar of Mukarpur Khema village under Bijnor police station area.”According to officials, “Yogesh confessed his crime and told the cops that they were running the racket for the past few years. They charged Rs 5 lakh from each aspirant. The two members of the gang — Vivan of Haryana and Yatin Kumar of Rudrapur, Uttarakhand — played a significant role in this nefarious activity. The accused also said that they asked the aspirants to attempt questions they knew and rest of the answer sheet was filled later by the experts.”“The arrested persons came to Meerut to collect carbon copies of answer sheets from the examinees.”A case has been registered against the arrested persons at Sadar Bazaar police station of Meerut under section 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust) and 411 (dishonestly receiving stolen property) of the IPC based on the recovered materials.
