Bijnor: Senior Congress leader Rashid Alvi on Sunday reacted to former Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav’s statement on the next Prime Minister and said that the next PM will be elected from UP and it will be Congress chief Rahul Gandhi . Yadav had endorsed the idea of backing the next PM from UP during a joint press conference in Lucknow on Saturday.Alvi said, “The next Prime Minister will indeed be elected from Uttar Pradesh. Rahul Gandhi will be the next PM.” He further added that just like Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, the Congress will put up a great show in UP too.Former Congress spokesperson Alvi visited Bijnor to attend a programme at a girls' college on Sunday. “The Congress will fight upcoming polls from UP. It will field its candidates on all 80 parliamentary seats in the state and win the polls.”There is a commotion in political sectors after the SP-BSP alliance. However, the Congress is not a part of it. After observing the situation, Congress pulled up its socks and took this step.Alvi said, “The Congress is gearing up for the upcoming polls and our president, Rahul Gandhi, will address 11 rallies in UP, and his first rally will be held in Moradabad. We have recently won Assembly elections in three states, beating the BJP. This shows that the people are fed up with policies of the BJP government and they want to bring the Congress back in power.”When newsmen asked about the effect of SP-BSP alliance in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, Alvi chose not to comment on it and said that his party is going to contest polls on its own.
