Municipal workers thrash ABVP workers, booked

Muzaffarnagar: Days after a Bajrang Dal leader was thrashed by municipal corporation employees in Agra, a similar incident occurred in Muzaffarnagar when councilors of nagar palika thrashed members of the ABVP , who leveled corruption charges against them.The incident occurred on Wednesday morning when ABVP members reached municipal board office to give a memorandum over sanitation and garbage issue.However the situation soon turned ugly, when the workers allegedly made objectionable comments against the nagar palika members.“During a board meeting conducted by nagar palika Chairman, some members of the ABVP entered office to hand over a memorandum. Soon scuffle ensued, and an angered councilor pushed the ABVP members out of the building,” said Amit Singh, additional district magistrate (ADM), who was also present during the chaos.According to ABVP workers, they were chased to out of nagar palika building and beaten up by the councilors.A case under sections 147 (rioting), 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt ), 506 (punishment for criminal intimidation) of the India Panel Code has been registered against four councilors— Sarfarz, Dilshad, Abid, and Nadeem Khan, including some unidentified employees of nagar palika.Deputy superintendent of police (city), Harish Bhadoria said, “An investigation is underway and an action will be taken accordingly.”
