Edu dept officials gets life threat for nixing over 7000 registrations

This year, over 7,000 such registrations were cancelled. However, the police say that is was matter of investigation to find out who was behind the letter. Officials said that the regiateration for board examination of these candidates was cancelled as they had used fake papers.“Last year, I had cancelled the registration of nearly 18,000 students who had got registrations with fake documents. All these are private candidates who were not regular students at any school here. Officials said that the regiateration for board examination of these candidates was cancelled as they had used fake papers.“Last year, I had cancelled the registration of nearly 18,000 students who had got registrations with fake documents. This year, over 7,000 such registrations were cancelled. All these are private candidates who were not regular students at any school here. The letter has been sent by somebody to create fear so that we revoke the decision of cancelling these registrations – which will not be done,” said Rana Shastranshu Kumar Suman, Meerut regional secretary, secondary education department.The letter had the name of one Devashish Chaube from Mathura – from where the letter allegedly came from. However, the police say that is was matter of investigation to find out who was behind the letter. Written in red ink, the letter threatened Suman, board exam in charge Bharat Kumar Chauhan and an examination assistant of dire consequences if the cancelled registrations were not regularised by February 7, 2019 – when UP board exams are slated to begin.Senior sub-inspector, Lalkurti police station, Hem Singh, said, “We have received a complaint in the matter and an FIR would be filed after the preliminary investigation is complete.” The candidates whose registrations have been cancelled are from across 17 districts of Meerut region, including Meerut, Agra, Etah, Aligarh, Saharanpur and others.
