Bijnor: A 23-year-old woman allegedly committed suicide after her father scolded her over a minor issue. I had earlier scolded her.”Seohara station house officer Uday Pratap Singh said, “Police is investigating the matter. The family members claim the girl committed suicide.” When she did not reply to my repeated calls, I broke down to the door to find her body hanging from a ceiling fan around 8:30pm. The incident took place in Asara Khera village under Seohara police station area in Bijnor.The woman, Puja Devi, hanged herself from a ceiling fan when her father, Naresh Sharma, went out of the house to buy medicine on Saturday evening.

Her mother is physically challenged. After receiving the information, police rushed to the spot and took the body of the girl to the district hospital for post mortem.Sharma said, “When I returned home in the evening on Saturday, I found my daughter had locked herself in her room. When she did not reply to my repeated calls, I broke down to the door to find her body hanging from a ceiling fan around 8:30pm. I had earlier scolded her.”Seohara station house officer Uday Pratap Singh said, “Police is investigating the matter. The family members claim the girl committed suicide.”
