Locals thrash drunk PAC cop in busy marketplace

Times News NetworkMeerut: A crowd comprising local shopkeepers thrashed a drunk Provincial Armed Constabulary ( PAC ) constable in a busy marketplace after he entered into a heated argument with some of them on Saturday evening. The incident took place in Meerut’s Brahmpuri area when constable Sachin Kumar allegedly misbehaved with the shopkeepers. Kabadi Bazar area is one of the busiest marketplaces in the city.The constable got into a verbal altercation with local shopkeepers. The locals, alleging misbehavior by the constable, began to thrash him. He was rushed to the nearby local hospital.A probe has been ordered by Meerut SP (city) Ranvijay Singh after video of the incident went viral.

The incident took place in Meerut’s Brahmpuri area when constable Sachin Kumar allegedly misbehaved with the shopkeepers. A probe has been ordered by Meerut SP (city) Ranvijay Singh after a video of the incident surfaced on social media.The trouble started after PAC constable Sachin Kumar showed up at Kabadi Bazar crossing in Brahmpuri area in an inebriated condition. Kabadi Bazar area is one of the busiest marketplaces in the city.The constable got into a verbal altercation with local shopkeepers. Soon, words turned to blows. The locals, alleging misbehavior by the constable, began to thrash him. Someone captured the incident on camera and uploaded the video online.In the video, more than 12 men can be seen thrashing the drunk constable who barely managed to put up a fight. The constable was pinned down on the ground and seen pleading with the mob to let him go.Onlookers at the spot alerted local Brahmpuri police, which reached the spot and rescued the constable. He was rushed to the nearby local hospital.A probe has been ordered by Meerut SP (city) Ranvijay Singh after video of the incident went viral. “We have already registered the case against unidentified people at Brahmpuri police station Efforts are being made to identify all the people seen hitting the constable in the video,” said Akhilesh Meena, SSP, Meerut.
