UP government releases Rs 2 lakh for 1.85 lakh students to conduct graded learning exams

Despite of being given free education with free books, mid-day meal and uniform, government primary schools primary schools have failed to attract parents of the kids. There are 150 primary and upper primary schools having below 20 students.Basic shiksha adhikari, Mahesh Chandra said, “Govt has decided to hold performance exam in all primary and upper primary schools in UP. The copy of the students will be checked here at block level offices under the supervision of education authority. The outcome of the exam will decide the performance of the students. We are set to write a letter to the higher authorities in this regard.

BIJNOR: With UP government releasing just Rs 2 lakh to conduct graded learning exams for Bijnor’s 1.85 lakh students, the basic shiksha department is in a fix as to how to conduct the examinations as the funds only provision Re 1 for each student.The graded learning exam is being conducted in the entire state from February 11 to February 20 to check the learning outcome of students who were first trained by special trainers. As per officials, it takes at least Rs 8 per student to conduct an exam which is why the basic shiksha adhikari has now written to the state authorities that with this budget, it will not be possible to conduct the exam at all.According to admission reports, there are as many as 2,556 primary and upper primary schools with over 1.85 lakhs kids here in the district. For this, fund has been allotted to all districts. The exam will be held by the end of February. There will be written papers, distributed among the students. The copy of the students will be checked here at block level offices under the supervision of education authority. The outcome of the exam will decide the performance of the students. All students will be given grade after checking the answer. All questions will be optional. Later, the schools having poor performance will be shortlisted. The higher authorities will keep eagle eyes on these schools so that their education standard could be improved.”Chandra said, “The govt has released around Rs 2 lakh to each district here in the state for conduction exam. Interestingly, the districts having less students have got the same fund. The question papers will have ten pages which will cost around Rs 8 to Rs10 while we have been provided with only Re 1 for each student to hold the performance exam.”He further added, “It is impossible to hold the exam with this meagre amount. We are set to write a letter to the higher authorities in this regard. Several large districts have already expressed their inability to hold the examination.”
