She was elected as MLA from Bijnor assembly seat in 2014 bypoll on an SP ticket but lost the 2017 assembly election in UP.Recently, Veera switched sides in view of the mahagatbandhan between SP-BSP in the state. Anticipating that under the new seat-sharing agreement between SP-BSP, the Bijnor seat would probably go to BSP, she joined BSP, said observers. She was made in charge of Bijnor Lok Sabha seat on December 22. A new twist was added late on Friday evening when BSP high command expelled her, dashing her hopes of getting a ticket from BSP to contest the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.According to observers, since the SP-BSP mahagatbandhan, leaders cutting across party lines are adopting various tactics to get a Lok Sabha ticket. Recently, BJP MLA from Meerapur constituency of Muzaffarnagar Avtar Singh Bhadana quit the party and joined Congress.
