Swine flu cases rise to 213 in district

Also, epidemiological study and travel history of patients is being checked, health department authorities said. Care should be taken as the number of cases may increase with the weather changing. Awareness camps are also being organized there so that people in those areas can exercise caution.

Meerut: Despite repeated advisories to protect oneself against H1N1 virus by the health department, the number of swine flu cases in Meerut has continued to rise, touching 213 on Sunday.“As many as 213 cases of swine flu have been reported in Meerut until Sunday. The number is increasing almost every day. Care should be taken as the number of cases may increase with the weather changing. So, it is advisable to exercise precautions and make sure that cleanliness and sanitation is taken care of,” said Dr Raj Kumar, Meerut chief medical officer.The health department has time and again been issuing advisories to residents to quarantine patients by keeping them in isolation, remain clean themselves and also keep a sanitizer at hand.Health officials say most people avoid taking immediate medication when they come down with cold and cough, their immunity decreases and hence the chances of contracting infection increases.“The city residents are advised to practice caution and get tested if they have swine flu symptoms.
