UP STF busts inter-state gang of robbers; 3 arrested

Meerut: The Meerut unit of UP STF busted a gang of robbers and recovered gold and jewellery from their possession in a huge amount on Sunday. Police recovered mobile phones, car gold biscuits, gold coins, silver coins and Rs 3 lakh cash from their possession.“The four member gang, which was headed by Nadeem, was busted on Sunday. The arrests, which were made in Kharkhauda area, came after the thieves recently stole Rs 10 lakh form Nagpur in Maharashtra. The other three members were Waseem from Hapur, Raees from Amroha and Shehnawaaz from Hapur. We also seized seven silver coins, one platinum ring, one silver ring, two blank cheques and Rs 3 lakh cash form their possession,” said Singh.For further interrogation, they are being handed over to Maharashtra police.

Nadeem is a resident of Hapur,” said Brijesh Kumar Singh, Meerut circle officer, UP STF.Talking about their modus operandi, Singh said, “The accused went to big metropolitan cities like Hyderabad, Nagpur, Mumbai and others, and aimed at breaking into houses which were locked.”The recent robbery in Nagpur had even led to the death of the father-in-law of the trader, who died of heart attack after hearing the news of theft. In the past, they have also done robberies in Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Andhra Pradesh and other states.“We have also seized four mobile phones, one Swift car, 250 grams of gold, including eight gold coins, 14 gold biscuits, one gold mangalsutra and one gold earring. We also seized seven silver coins, one platinum ring, one silver ring, two blank cheques and Rs 3 lakh cash form their possession,” said Singh.For further interrogation, they are being handed over to Maharashtra police.
