Bijnor: Ahead of parliamentary polls, a section of leaders have started switching parties in the hope of getting a ticket. The latest to join the band of floor-crossers is former MP and SP’s senior leader, Yashveer Singh. He quit Samajwadi Party and joined BJP on Tuesday in Lucknow in the presence of Mahendranath Pandey, state president of BJP.Yashveer said, “I have resigned from SP and joined BJP. There is democracy in BJP which provided the way to go forward. I am committed to BJP and will hard work for party.” He accepted that he is staking claim for a ticket from Nagina reserve seat “if party gives me a chance”.Yashveer’s entry into BJP has created a flutter among local leaders, specially BJP leaders, eying the ticket from Nagina. Nagina reserved seat was won by BJP’s Yashwant Singh in the last elections.Yashveer Singh was elected MP from Nagina on 2009. He contested again in 2014 but lost. This time around, Yashveer Singh was pitching for a ticket from SP. But the seat went to BSP in a seat-sharing agreement with SP, dashing his hopes of fighting the polls from Nagina on a SP ticket.Now, Yashveer hopes to get the BJP ticket from Nagina. His entry has made current incumbent Yashwant Singh see red as he hopes to be renominated.
