Bijnor: A 16-year-old school girl was gang-raped allegedly by two youths of a different community in Seohara area of Bijnor, leading to communal tension in the region. The girl was returning home from a music programme when the alleged assault took on the intervening night of Monday and Tuesday.The matter took a communal turn on Thursday when the girl’s family members held a protest outside the accused’s house. Soon, scores of people from both the communities came face-to-face. Heavy police force was rushed to the spot to bring the tense situation under control.According to police, the accused pulled the minor girl into a deserted school and then raped her. The survivor was returning home when the incident took place.Later, the girl reached house and narrated the ordeal to parents. A police complaint was filed on Tuesday. The accused were booked under POCSO Act and section 376 D (gang-rape) of IPC. Police said that a hunt was on to nab the accused.Superintendent of police (rural) Vishvajeet Srivastava said: “Police have registered a case against the accused and are on the hunt to nab them. Family members of the girl created ruckus at the accused’s house leading to tension. Police force has been stationed in the village as precautionary measure.”
