Village youths open gym in government school, force students to study outdoors

When teachers protested, they were allegedly threatened by the intruders.On Thursday, basic shiksha adhikari of Muzaffarnagar sent a team to the village school after an anonymousperson lodged a complaint at the BSA office, said sources. The room was kept closed during school hours. The room has now been cleared following the acting basic shiksha adhikari’s intervention in the matter.According to sources, the village pradhan was also aware about the development but chose to remain quiet.

For the past 10-odd days, the students had been forced to sit on the floor outside their classroom for regular class as some village youths had forcibly taken over the premises to set up a gym after dumping the benches and chairs in a corner. The room was kept closed during school hours. The room has now been cleared following the acting basic shiksha adhikari’s intervention in the matter.According to sources, the village pradhan was also aware about the development but chose to remain quiet. When teachers protested, they were allegedly threatened by the intruders.On Thursday, basic shiksha adhikari of Muzaffarnagar sent a team to the village school after an anonymousperson lodged a complaint at the BSA office, said sources. The team removed the equipment from the classroom.A teacher, Vidhyawati, said, “They (miscreants) installed gym equipment in the classroom and we had problems taking class.”Yogesh Sharma, acting BSA of Muzaffarnagar, told to TOI, “Once the incident came into my knowledge, I sent a team to the school and got all the equipment removed from the room. Now, classes have resumed in the room. Besides, I have issued instructions to all schools to take note if any such activity takes place in their premises.”A girl student who did not wish to be identified said, “They (intruders) all are from the same village and often used to misbehave with teachers and students.”Prem Prakas Sharma, station house officer of Sikheda police station, said, “We have been informed by media about the incident. When we approached school, the gym equipment had been removed and no complaint was made by anyone.”
