Meerut: Local police in Bulandshahr has announced a Rs 1 lakh reward for anyone who could provide information on the whereabouts of suspects involved in abduction and gang-rape of a minor girl on the intervening night of March 10 and 11.A week after the incident, investigative agencies are yet to achieve any major breakthrough in the case after having initially detained two suspects who were later let off after the victim stated that they were not involved in the incident.The alleged assault took place on the intervening night of March 10 and 11 when the 13-year-old girl, accompanied by her brother, was returning from a marriage ceremony. The accused beat up her cousin and abducted the girl. Four persons were then involved in gang raping her in a moving car. A day later, she was found unconscious in a school near her village. The four suspects involved in the case are yet to be identified.Speaking to ToI, a senior police official privy to the investigation said, “We are trying to locate mobile users active in all the Base Transceiver Station (BTS) on the stretch and filter out the ones which were constant in the region. This could help us in identifying the suspects.”“Going by the victim’s statement, it is certain that one of the perpetrators is known to her. We are yet to identify the accused though,” said Manish Mishra, SP (rural).An FIR under IPC sections 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) and 364 (kidnapping or abducting in order to murder) was registered against the three accused. After the rape survivor’s statement, additional section of 376 D (gang-rape) was included, the police said.Politics over the incident has already begun with former CM Akhilesh Yadav making a scathing attack.
