Muzaffarnagar: As many as four persons were critically injured after an overloaded sugarcane truck toppled on an auto (tempo) on Jansath road in Muzaffarnagar on Sunday. The passengers of the auto, crushed under the truck, were rescued by the authorities and the villagers.The accident took place in village Shernagar on Sunday Morning when an overloaded sugarcane truck toppled on a moving tempo carrying six passenger. A large number of villagers gathered on the spot and launched a rescue drive after informing the police. Police and emergency services rushed to spot. It took three cranes to lift the truck. Among the six injured persons was a child who sustained serious injuries. The injured have been admitted to the hospital where they are undergoing treatment.Deputy superintendent of police (Mandi) said, “All the injured are out of danger. An inquiry has been ordered into the matter and action will be taken accordingly.” According to villagers, condition of the road where the accident took place is very bad and there are potholes which may have caused the accident.
