Saffron & blue in high demand this Holi as election fever grips country

While BJP’s supporters are opting for the saffron colour, followers of SP-BSP alliance are using blue to show their love for their favourite parties. Similarly blue colour is being sold at Rs 80 per kg. Bijnor: As Lok Sabha polls are round the corner, it seems the election fever has also left a mark on the festival of colour Holi. All political parties and their supporters are vying with each others with the colour of their respective parties. As a result, both the colours are high on the demands this year.Talking to TOI, Nrapendra Dehswal from Bijnor, said, “Gulal of saffron colour normally is sold at Rs 60 per kg but this time Holi it is being sold at Rs 100 per kg.

Both BJP and BSP-SP’s supporters are purchasing this as a mark of their loyalty to the party.”When contacted, a shopkeeper, Hitesh Tuli, he said, “It is true that this year saffron colour is in high demand while colours like red and green are not in much demand. Some shopkeepers are exploiting the political season and making money by selling both the colours at high rates.”BJP’s local leader, Dhir Singh said, “Saffron colour has become a prestige issue for us.”On the other side, BSP leader Jitendra Sagar said, “Our party’s colour is blue and all supporters of our party are demanding for blue colour.”
