Meerut: A day’s salary of 108 teachers was withheld for taking leaves without prior notice during evaluation of UP Board exam answersheets at KK Inter College by Meerut district inspector of schools (DIOS). This comes after the Meerut DIOS had issued instructions to teachers to ensure that they take leave without prior permission or else their salary would be cut.“A day’s salary of as many as 108 teachers has been withheld for taking leaves from evaluation duty at KK Inter College centre. Similar action will be taken against teachers who do the same,” DIOS GK Chaudhary said.To restrict teachers from taking leaves during evaluation of UP board exam answer sheets, the district inspector of schools (DIOS) had given instructions to cut a day’s salary of those teachers who take leaves without prior notice. “We have to ensure that the exams answer sheets are evaluated without any delay. The absence of teachers during evaluation is the reason which slows down the process. I have decided to cut a day’s salary of those found absent during evaluation,” Chaudhary had said.Evaluation of UP board exam answer sheets started in Meerut on March 10. In Meerut region alone, there are a total of 5.44 lakh copies which are being evaluated at four centres – Government Inter College (Meerut), Ram Sahai Inter College, SD Inter College (Sadar) and KK Inter College.
