Two usurers booked for abetting suicide

Pilibhit: Two usurers were booked by police on Friday for allegedly abetting a 40-year old labourer to commit suicide in Bisalpur town under Bisalpur Kotwali police station.The man hung himself in his house on Friday evening after being harassed by the usurers. Lately, he was being pressurized by the usurers to sell his house and repay the amount. The deceased had borrowed Rs 40,000 from the usurers at high interest. No arrest has been made yet, he added.Kamal is survived by wife, two sons and four daughters. But, the accused were constantly pressurizing Kamal to sell his house and clear dues of the respective interest, Madhu said.Officer in-charge at Bisalpur Kotwali police station, Satyendra Kumar, said that an FIR was lodged against the two accused under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

The police have sent the body for an autopsy.In her complaint filed to police, the deceased’s wife, Madhu, stated that her husband, Kamal Joshi, a resident of Dube locality in Bisalpur town was found hanging from a rope inside the house when the family members returned home on Friday evening after exchanging Holi greetings with relatives and friends.Kamal was targeted by the usurers Rinku Dube of the same locality and Dharmveer Patel of Patel Nagar in Bisalpur town, and was even thrashed and mentally harassed.The deceased had actually repaid the amount, more than the principal. But, the accused were constantly pressurizing Kamal to sell his house and clear dues of the respective interest, Madhu said.Officer in-charge at Bisalpur Kotwali police station, Satyendra Kumar, said that an FIR was lodged against the two accused under sections 306 (abetment to suicide), 342 (wrongful confinement) and 506 (criminal intimidation).
