District admin uses innovative ways to boost poll awareness

Muzaffarnagar: Ahead of the crucial 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the district administration has roped in members of the civil society to spread awareness on voting rights. The main aim is to involve every section of society and encourage maximum participation of voters in the upcoming elections. We are also using various social media platforms to encourage voters.”Muzaffarnagar administration is using bookstores, petrol pumps, schools, colleges and even domestic LPG cylinders to spread their message. According to sources, there will be a ‘nukkad sabha’ and a school competition on March 25.Notably, Muzaffarnagar has around 20 lakh voters across 915 voting centres. Government employees were given EVM training at an event on Sunday, sources said.

The authorities are also using innovative measures for the cause.The awareness campaign includes measures such as oath-taking certificates for schoolchildren signed by parents, using courier services to add a special message to clients to vote and even appealing to patients in hospital during registration process. Social media platforms are also being actively used.Muzaffarnagar administration has already created a Twitter handle and a Facebook page to encourage people to cast their votes on April 11. The main aim is to involve every section of society and encourage maximum participation of voters in the upcoming elections. Involving the civil society will have maximum impact, authorities feel.DM Muzaffarnagar Ajay Shankar Pandey said, “We have launched our awareness campaign with two slogans, along with oath-taking certificates filled by students and signed by parents. We are also using various social media platforms to encourage voters.”Muzaffarnagar administration is using bookstores, petrol pumps, schools, colleges and even domestic LPG cylinders to spread their message. Pamphlets are being distributed in the district. According to sources, there will be a ‘nukkad sabha’ and a school competition on March 25.Notably, Muzaffarnagar has around 20 lakh voters across 915 voting centres. Around 126 sector magistrates have been assigned for the exercise. Government employees were given EVM training at an event on Sunday, sources said.
