MEERUT: Taking dig at Meerut’s BSP candidate and ex-MLA Yakub Qureshi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi , said, “I have been told that in Meerut , the leaders of opposition have even fielded candidates who have, in the past, announced crores for terrorists. This is just his way to react to show how scared he is of the alliance.” And did they not provide protection to the terrorists on the basis of religion and caste? They are trying to draw a line between Hindus and Muslims and whoever tries to reveal their actual intentions, they are termed as terrorists. These are all ‘maha-milawati’ (adulterated) people, and can go to any level.” Modi was taking a dig at SP-BSP-RLD candidate and former BSP MLA Yakub Qureshi who was in news in 2015 for announcing Rs 51 crore for the terrorists who attacked the office of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris for making a cartoon on Prophet Mohammed.“For once, remember the old days and tell me that when the government of ‘maha-milawati’ (referring to opposition) people was there at the centre, bomb blasts took place in the country or not?

And did they not provide protection to the terrorists on the basis of religion and caste? In fact, I have been told that in Meerut, leaders of opposition have even fielded candidates who announced money for terrorists,” said PM Narendra Modi , without taking Qureshi’s name.BSP’s Qureshi had struck controversy first in 2006 for announcing Rs 51 crore award for Danish cartoonist who had made a cartoon of Prophet Mohammed and then in 2015 by announcing Rs 51 crore for the terrorists who attacked the office of Charlie Hebdo magazine in Paris.Asked to comment on Modi’s remark, Qureshi, said, “BJP does the politics of feelings and emotions. They are trying to draw a line between Hindus and Muslims and whoever tries to reveal their actual intentions, they are termed as terrorists. This is just his way to react to show how scared he is of the alliance.”
