No bridge, no vote: Voters of M’nagar village

Ahead of the 2019 LS polls, angry villagers put up banners in the village. One such banner at the village entry point read: ‘We, all villagers, boycott the 2019 general elections’.“We have been demanding connectivity with the mainland for years. In fact, we have decided to boycott elections.”Local officials are aware of the issue and are currently preparing a report. “We travel more than five kilometers to reach our farmlands, and so have been demanding a bridge across River Sonali for many years now,” added Munesh Kumar, another villager.A woman resident, Sudesh, said, “There is no work in our village. So, we have decided to boycott elections, if our demand is not met,” said Lokpal Singh, a resident.
