Meerut: The Uttar Pradesh (UP) education department instructed the basic shiksha adhikaris (BSAs) to update daily student enrolment count in the department’s online portal. The move, officials say, will help the state authorities to maintain a watch on the number of students in each school in the state and ensure that the number isn’t considerably low elsewhere.“This is to bring to your notice that the student enrolment number should be uploaded on the education portal www.basiceduschemes.in on a regular basis starting April 1. It should be noted that until last academic year, the information on the number of students was registered on the basis of districts. But now, information of students per development block will be uploaded online. The concerned officials have been already given user id and password,” read the order issued by Lalita Pradeep, UP joint education director (basic). The letter further stated that the total number of students should be uploaded daily without failure. “This portal will allow officials to upload information about primary schools, upper primary schools and schools from classes I to VIII,” read the order.Though the basic shiksha adhikaris cannot make any amends in the information fed online, it will have to analyse the numbers fed and check for any discrepancies.“Last year, some districts had provided data for student enrolment up to class VI and had not uploaded data for class VII and VIII. So, not only will they have to upload new data for all the classes, they will also need to provide data for class VII and VIII for the previous year,” the order stated.
