Delhi policeman slaughtered to death in U.P’s Baghpat

35 year old Delhi police constable was shot dead in Baghpat district when he was returning home on his motorcycle.

Manish Kumar who worked as a constable in Delhi police also served in security of various VIP’s succumbed to injuries on Tuesday morning in Meerut hospital. He was currently deployed in the traffic police department and seldom travelled back home in Meerut’s Jani area after his tiring schedule.

On Monday afternoon on his way back to hometown he was waylaid by four men riding to motorbikes in Singhawali Ahir area og Baghpat after an aggressive argument they shot him in the stomach and left him bleeding by the road. Kumar was rushed to the hospital where he was succumbed to the bullet wounds the next day.

Inspector General Praveen Kumar stated ‘’four bike-borne assailant waylaid him (the constable) when he was returning home from work. According to a witness, they spoke to him, a scuffle followed and he was shot at by one of them’’. Whereas IG Tripathi confronted ‘’it looks like the attackers were known to Kumar. Eyewitness saw Kumar comfortably talking to the assailants. Prima facie, the incident doesn’t point towards loot. But still we are looking into all the angles’’.

Another police officer stated ‘’he was seen arguing with the assailants, and was later shot at. From there he was rushed to the district hospital in Baghpat and later to a hospital in Meerut after his condition was degenerated’’. Kumar had joined Delhi Police in 2011. According to his family he was also deployed in VIP duties before moving to traffic police department recently’’.
