Meerut: A private hospital asks for 20,000 and refuses to discharge woman

A woman in private hospital of Meerut’s Kharkhauda area gave birth to a stillborn child due to the negligence of hospital as claimed by his husband.

The private hospital in Meerut’s Kharkauda area has refused to discharge woman who gave birth to stillborn who’s delivery was done by a warden the family alleged on Wednesday that hospital has asked for 20,000 fee in return of discharge. The family claimed that they had already deposited the same amount earlier before the operation started and now they have handed over a deceased child without discharging the woman.

Husband of the woman Mubarak stated ‘’I had admitted my wife to the hospital on Wednesday with labor pain; however the hospital got her delivery done by the warden ‘aaya’. My wife gave birth to a stillborn due to negligence and now the hospital is asking INR 20,000 discharge fee’’. The family after this incident approached the district magistrate to complain about the matter, a probe has been issued. Chief Medical Officer (CMO) has sent a team to investigate. The CMO in his statement confronted that ‘’the woman has been discharged and the family’s money has been returned. Negligence of the hospital has been found and notice will be issued for the lapse’’.

However as the two staff members at CMO’s office test COVID positive on Wednesday, the notice will be issued on Friday. The office will be closed for the said duration.
