Amroha police to escort women returning from late-night shifts

Bijnor: In a move aimed at enhancing the safety of working women returning home after late-night shifts, the Amroha police will now provide escorts for women and girls using their Dial 112 Police Response Vehicles (PRV).Amroha Traffic circle officer, Abhishek Yadav, said that necessary guidelines have been given to PRV personnel to ensure the safety of women in the district. He also said that if a woman is seen returning from work at night, the police personnel should ensure that she is escorted to her home. Yadav has directed that Dial 112 vehicles be strategically parked in locations where they are highly visible to passersby, ensuring a reassuring police presence.The initiative comes in the wake of a concerning incident where a group of youths stalked a dozen schoolgirls in the Hasanpur area, resulting in the girls discontinuing their attendance at school. Amroha superintendent of police Kunwar Anupam Singh had taken a serious note of the incident. Three youths were arrested and sent to jail in this connection. Besides, a case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the IPC.Meanwhile, police said that if any untoward incident occurs, PRV personnel will keep the site safe so that the evidence cannot be tampered with. In addition, PRV personnel will provide assistance to the caller in the shortest possible time.
